About Us

The Centre for Indigenous Maritime Trade, Blue Economy, and Transport Studies is a free-standing research and development initiative founded to proffer solutions to operative problems in the local and international maritime and allied sectors in Nigeria and the wider sub-region of West and Central Africa.

The Centre will support interested agencies and private clients, policymakers, researchers, and students, with studies and knowledge production. The goal is to promote indigenous maritime activities, human capacity training, and participation of indigenous carriers in inland, cabotage, coastal, and international transportation as much as possible. The Centre is actuated by the vision that Nigerians and Africans ought to profitably take part in active ownership and chartering of oceangoing ships and safely manage the carriage of cargoes locally and internationally for public and private sector clients in all the cargo segments of maritime trade.

The study teams shall be composed of consenting scholars and industry experts from across the world to undertake simple or interdisciplinary commissioned research projects in all segments of sea trade and the allied sciences.
